1 lb. ground beef
1/2 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 oz.) can whole peeled or diced tomatoes
2 (15 oz.) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 Tb. chili powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. brown sugar
Brown the beef in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Put tomatoes, onion, and garlic in a blender and puree. Once beef is browned, add pureed tomato mixture, beans, and spices all together and simmer for 10 minutes. Taste the chili and adjust seasoning as desired or serve.
